Grooved rails for trams
Grooved rails for trams
Saarstahl Rail has extensive experience in manufacturing grooved rails for the growing urban tram market.
Grooved rails produced in Hayange are used in most urban rail networks across Europe as well as in many prestigious local transportation systems worldwide. Saarstahl Rail produces grooved rails in various grades:
- Standard grades defined by European standards
- Vanadium-alloyed grades specifically developed to meet network needs: improved wear resistance and simplified rail maintenance
Easily repairable grooved rails
These rails offer the best balance between wear resistance and ease of repair through resurfacing when side wear and the railhead need to be refurbished.
The grades offered by Saarstahl Rail are ferritic-pearlitic grades enriched with Vanadium. These include:
- R200V Grade
This is a predominantly ferritic grade with wear rates similar to the R200 grade. It is the easiest to resurface, significantly reducing costs and risks associated with rail resurfacing. - R220V Grade
This is a balanced ferritic-pearlitic grade with wear rates between those of R200 and R260. It effectively combats wear and reduces the costs and risks associated with rail resurfacing. - R260V Grade
This is a predominantly pearlitic grade with good wear resistance comparable to R260. It contributes to extending rail life, with resurfacing being very robust. - R320V Grade
Delivered to Paris, Sheffield, Cuenca, Brussels, St. Etienne, Besançon, Casablanca, Taipei, and many more locations.
More than 20 grooved rail profiles are available: from 46G1 to 68G1 – see our catalogue. This pearlitic grade offers excellent wear resistance, greatly extending rail life.
