Visit of Industry Minister Roland Lescure to the Hayange Site

The themes of “decarbonizing the steel industry” and delivering green rails to Ukraine were central to Industry Minister Roland Lescure’s visit to the Saarstahl Rail site in Hayange.

Mr. Lescure observed the green rail production process and assessed future investments, including the construction of a new furnace that will significantly reduce CO2 emissions at Hayange. He emphasized that decarbonization is a crucial future challenge for France. “We are relying on green industry to become one of the pillars for further developing the national economy,” said Mr. Lescure.

Dr. Klaus Richter, President of Saarstahl Rail and member of the Executive Board of Saarstahl AG, also informed Roland Lescure that green rails from Hayange would be delivered to eastern Ukraine by early summer to help rebuild destroyed infrastructure.
